Raccoon, Squirrel, or Bat? Noise Clues
Use timing, sound pattern, and entry-point clues to describe the likely animal when calling a wildlife removal provider.
You do not need to identify the animal perfectly before calling, but better details make dispatch and quoting easier.
Raccoons
Heavier thumps, rolling sounds, or loud nighttime movement often point toward raccoons, especially in attics or chimneys.
Squirrels
Fast scampering and scratching in the morning or afternoon often points toward squirrels. They commonly use roofline gaps and vents.
Bats
Bats may be quiet inside but visible at dusk as they exit a small gap. Guano below an opening is a common clue.
Birds
Chirping, fluttering, and nesting material near vents or gutters often points toward bird activity.
